How we decide a listing is about AI
BWAI covers Federal + California, DC and New York City. A listing is kept only when official text names AI work.
Core AI
The title or official summary names artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, large language models, foundation models, computer vision, natural language processing, or the acronym AI as a standalone token. HIV/AIDS and similar false acronyms are excluded.
AI-related
AI is a significant component rather than the whole program: phrases such as “including AI” are not enough. The official summary must name AI, ML or LLM work as a real part of the funded activity.
Excluded
Matches on only “neural”, “autonomous”, “smart”, “data analytics”, “automation” or “big data” are dropped unless the official text also names AI, ML or LLMs. Laundry lists and closed topics are dropped.
Dates
Deadlines display in Eastern Time, for example “Due Feb 11, 2027, 5:00 PM ET”. If the source published another zone, the original sits underneath (“4:30 PM CDT per source”). SAM.gov notices default to 5:00 PM ET and Grants.gov to 11:59 PM ET when the official notice has a date but no clock time. If SAM.gov or another source publishes no response date, the listing shows “No deadline listed” rather than Rolling. Forecasts are never labeled Open. California “Ongoing” deadlines display as Rolling. Forecasts whose estimated post or due date has already passed are marked stale. Live listings drop off as soon as the converted deadline has passed.
Stale listings
If a source misses two successful fetches, remaining items are marked unconfirmed, excluded from digests, and removed after seven days. A successful SAM.gov import fully replaces the previous SAM.gov set. Past deadlines are dropped at the next fetch.
